الاهتمامات: I majored in linguistics because I love learning about languages and other cultures. One of the best things about those classes was learning about these topics from classmates and professors from around the world. This is also one of my favorite things about teaching English.

Being from the Pacific Northwest, I grew up spending a lot of time in the mountains or at the beach either camping or hiking. I love our forests and native wildlife. Did you know that we have the world’s largest variety of octopus?

I’ve been playing tabletop RPGs, playing video games, and reading comics from age 7. Lately, it’s been old Marvel comics (1960s – 1970s). I’m a huge fan of the sci-fi and fantasy genres. I loved the Mass Effect trilogy and currently play Elder Scrolls Online. I also have a lifelong love of Star Trek and Star Wars.

I graduated from the University of Washington in 2014. Linguistics is the study of human languages and the ways they function. The two areas I focused on were phonetics (speech sounds) and sociolinguistics (language variation within communities).

I am a current graduate student at the University of Washington studying Computational Linguistics. Computational Linguistics is the study of human language and technology.
