I've taught English in Japan, twice. First from September 1995 to March 2000 and then from April 2003 to February 2008. I taught in a conversation school, a private high school, a public high school, companies, culture centres, and universities.

I worked onboard cruise ships from August 2008 to April 2012. I facilitated sessions on customer service, hospitality, and ship safety, with crew members from over 60 different countries! I also did ship tours.

For this job I was based in Shanghai, China. It involved assessing mostly spoken English, and sometimes written English too. I did this from spring 2015 to summer 2021.

Interests: I've travelled to more than 50 countries so far, and have lived on four continents, three as an adult. I've also worked onboard cruise ships!

I've been vegetarian for a long time. My main reason is for the animals, but it's also better for the environment.

I love spending time near water and taking long walks. I enjoy playing Scrabble, Words With Friends, Bananagrams, and Wordle, all of which are word games.
