After graduation, I taught in Dowagiac Schools in their Migrant Program. I had a class of non-English speaking students from ages four to ten years old. We learned English through any means possible: field trips, building, dancing, walking, etc.

For the last thirteen months, I have been teaching Chinese students English online. It has been a fantastic experience and a great refresher for my teaching skills. I've loved every second of it and have a great time using Creative Arts with them.

兴趣: I have always loved languages and achieving a mutual understanding with people I would never have normally met. A strong foundation in Phonics, Grammar and Vocabulary give children the ability to decode languages and progressively speak them. However, I do not believe that this process must be boring! I love it when a student suddenly "gets" a concept or understands how to decode a word. To retain memory of what we are teaching, children must be engaged through the processes that I have previously mentioned

I have worked (as in business all day) and lived successfully in German, Spanish, French and Italian. I think that that is why I believe patience and empathy are so key to learning to speak a second language.
