Profession: English teacher
English Language Instruction, Teaching

Volunteer English Tutor
Education, English Language Instruction
I have volunteered as an English tutor for NGOs in both Korea and Cambodia to help students meet their unique English learning goals.

Interests: I have recently returned to Canada after working in South Korea as an English teacher for 2 years. It was an amazing experience, but it also helped me to understand how intimidating it can be to speak to a native speaker! I was just beginning to learn a couple of simple words and sentences in Korean and something as simple as ordering coffee was suddenly an incredibly scary and stressful experience for me. This experience gave me a lot of empathy for my students who are learning English, as it allowed me to see how scary it can be to speak to a native speaker for the first time, and how helpful and comforting it can be to have a teacher who patient, encouraging and supportive! I hope to be an empathetic and patient teacher for my students to help them feel more confident speaking English!
