I have taught University-level Portuguese and Spanish since 2008.

Interests: I was born and raised in rural Iowa in the Midwestern United States. I grew up around farm animals and a large extended family.

In college I majored in Spanish and Portuguese and studied abroad in Portugal for a year.

Since my time in Portugal I have been passionate about language instruction and forming connections with people from different cultures and experiences than my own. I have a Master's and PhD in Portuguese from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I taught courses in Portuguese, Spanish, Literature, and History. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and believe that learning something new everyday should be a lifelong goal.
