From 1985 to 1992, I was a Hawaii County government Water Safety Officer. Duties were focused on public safety, ocean rescue, and administering first aid. I was offered a chance to train and work in the California State Park Lifeguard program.
兴趣: After moving to Hawaii 夏威夷 at 15 years old, I discovered big waves and surfing 冲浪 and wanted to become a professional surfer. I soon became a lifeguard at a famous surfing beach, and my surfing improved enough to compete internationally at the armature level. Intercultural experiences came with traveling to find the best waves, and I learned new languages and made new friends in 50 countries. I went on to start an international surf school where I taught water safety and surf skills to hundreds of people including movie stars and other celebrities. My passion for traveling, learning, and meeting new people led me to the University of Hawaii's Chinese culture program at Peking University 北京大学, where I lived and studied Chinese Philosophy 中国哲学. In the years that followed, I completed a Master of Arts (MA) in Taiwan Studies at National Chengchi University 政治大學, Taiwan, ROC, where I lived among the indigenous peoples 高山族, and documented their lives and languages in videos and films 民族志电影. I also hold a Master of Business Administration (MBA) 工商管理硕士 in Hospitality and Tourism Management, and a PhD 博士学位 in Environmental Management 环境学, from Prince of Songkla University, Phuket, Thailand, where I work as a university professor 大学教授. As an author, educator, and filmmaker, I help others find success in their own lives.
