Profession: First Leap China
English Language Instruction
Teaching classroom English to students aged between 15-21
Intérêts: Asking where I am from is a tricky question for me. I was born to a British mother and a Spanish father, therefore I had a rather unique upbringing—splitting my time between Liverpool and Sheffield in the UK, and Barcelona in Catalonia within Spain. This experience gave me the best of both worlds: a rich cultural background and fluency in English and Catalan, as well as some intermediate Castilian (traditional Spanish) skills.
While I feel most at home in Barcelona, my personality and sense of humour are definitely British. I also hold both British and Spanish passports, which has its perks!
In addition to growing up between two countries, I’ve spent large parts of the year living in other corners of the world—particularly in South America (Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico) and East Asia (Japan, Thailand, Cambodia). Over the past decade, I’ve been fortunate enough to teach English both in-person and online. For the past six years, I’ve mainly focused on online teaching, but I also taught English and history in Spain, China (Beijing and Dongguan) and Thailand (Bangkok).
I’m an avid non-fiction reader and a daily consumer of news articles, which allows me to dive deep into a wide range of topics—history, politics, economics, food, travel, music, hip-hop culture, sports (especially football, boxing, and MMA), movies, TV, fitness, psychology, relationships… you name it.
So whatever you're into, just let me know—I'm always up for a good conversation!
