High School / University Student Tutor
Education
On an individual basis I have tutored in total six different individuals from varying age-groups in completing projects, home-work assignments, national examinations, as well as teaching instruction with successes of A+ to B+ in those categories.
兴趣: Education has always played an important role in my life, and I enjoyed learning, which is reflected throughout my academic career. I was raised in a single-parent family, yet despite economic challenges, when each child struggled in a subject area my mother ensured that we had tutors and had she not made the sacrifice to do so, I certainly would not be where I am today. My love for education was made possible because of my mother and those tutoring sessions. My goal is to do the same for others and help develop ones who may have such struggles in school. I possess many talents, but my greatest strength is creativity. Finding ways to touch the minds and hearts of my students is an absolute joy because with each concept that is retrained is one step closer to knowledge discovery of oneself and the world.
One of my primary objectives as a teacher is to offer tutoring services to help all students achieve their academic goals and to assist them to develop the skills where they may lack to progress further in the specific subject area. Such a service will assist students to progress academically and enjoy learning; experiencing the same affect tutoring had on me. Integration of technology will be a feature in face-to-face settings as well as virtually.
Educational Philosophy
I believe that all students can learn, and that no child should be left behind. Driven by this philosophy, I hope to create an environment that is safe, fair, nurturing, rich in literature, and interaction for future students. Providing an environment that is led by efficacy, compassion, equity, perseverance, and hard work my students will reflect the character traits that will enable them to rise above academic standards but thrive as fully competent members of society. To ensure that no student is left behind methods of instruction will motivate: 1) interaction between the teacher and student and student with peers using strategic methods such as collaborative and cooperative learning, think-pair-share, 2) a hands-on and minds-on approach of learning using the inquiry based methods to guarantee active thinking, reading, and writing, 3) technology to give a more in depth experience in various subjects to make learning more appealing and engaging, 4) disciplinary action to regulate acceptable consistent behavior that once followed each student will feel safe. Because all students can learn, as a teacher it is an obligation to ensure that this is achieved. The ideal classroom I have always envisioned, is not inclusive to a one man show, but involves a team to guarantee the success of the teaching experience and that of the students. I hope to foster a network involving teachers, parents, administrators, and faculty members so that each lesson is purposeful and transcends beyond the classroom. This would require effort of all those involved, but actively involving others in the education of the students will help them to view education as more than information on a written page. Each lesson will be age-appropriate containing reasonable objectives every student can attain. Because of the large number of students public schools have per class, each group will be arranged according to multiple intelligence scores. An experiment I conducted last year, revealed the success of this grouping system resulting in an English learner student exceeding in reading because of being associated with students who motivated her to. That experience only fueled my determination to help all students regardless of language/learning difficulties. My teaching philosophy originated from examining the teachers I had throughout my academic career and seeing living proof what believing in each student does to a person first-hand. It is not influenced by any renowned philosopher and nor do I plan to because I hope to define my own philosophy and make an impact to the students I meet.
