Whilst studying in Rio de Janeiro, I worked part time as an English teacher for a local tutoring agency. In this role, I worked predominantly with beginners, helping students to get started with the basics of writing, speaking and listening.

Swimming Instructor

Over the years, I have worked as a swimming instructor at a variety of locations around the UK. This job has taught me the importance of boosting students' confidence and adapting my lessons to different abilities and learning styles.

Teaching Assistant

I was employed as a teaching assistant for children with special educational needs at a primary school. Here, I aided the teacher in delivering lessons in all the subjects on the UK curriculum. I also lead one-to-one reading sessions with students.

Circus Performer

Most recently, I have been pursuing a career as a circus performer! Over the past year, I completed an intensive training course at a circus school in Portugal. In this international environment, I got to practice my Spanish and Portuguese every day.

İlgi Alanları: Born in New Zealand and raised in the UK, I caught the travel bug at an early age. As a teenager, I was keen to get out and see the world and took part in my school's expedition to Borneo. Then, at 18, I did my first solo trip backpacking in New Zealand.

When the time came for me to choose a degree subject, languages was an easy choice; it was my favourite class at school and I knew studying Spanish and Portuguese would allow me to keep travelling. As part of my course, I completed an intensive Spanish language programme in Andalusia and spent a year doing a university exchange in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

During my years at university, I participated in the language exchange programme. In this scheme, I was matched with students who spoke the same languages as me to practice our conversation skills together. Through this programme, I met people from Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Uruguay and Spain. This was one of the most rewarding and beneficial experiences I had at university, as I was able to improve my speaking skills whilst learning about different cultures in Latin America and Europe.

Outside of the languages world, my main interest is circus and performing. I spent the last year studying as an aerial acrobat at a circus school in Portugal. On my course, there were students from 16 different countries so I really enjoyed learning about the various cultures and languages of my classmates. When I'm not training, I am usually quite lazy and love to stay at home. My favourite things to do are cooking, drawing, making jewellery, watching sitcoms on TV and listening to music. When I have time, I also love to get out in nature for a walk and do some birdwatching.

I completed my bachelor's degree at the University of Leeds, graduating with first class honours. I then gained my master's degree at the University of Manchester and graduated with merit. During these studies, I lived abroad in Spain and Brazil.
