Interests: I am a history instructor and researcher with seven years of teaching and research experience. My interests are particularly focused on the histories of trauma, memory, and the body in modern Japan and East Asia, but I have extensive experience with World and United States History, the Social Sciences, and Humanities. I have taught at the high school and university levels and am responsible for designing and executing innovative lessons designed to introduce students to historical thinking skills.

In my tenure as a high school history teacher, I have taught first-year survey classes as well as Advanced Placement and independent study courses. I am currently an adjunct professor at James Madison University, where I teach World History Since 1500 and United States History, and a high school teacher with Chesapeake Public Schools. I believe that research and writing must be academically rigorous and accessible to the public. I have presented my own research at regional conferences, including the Mid-Atlantic Association for Asian Studies and Southeastern World History Association conferences. I have also published opinion articles for the Virginian Pilot newspaper to reach a wider audience.

In my free time, I enjoy reading widely in areas of interest, playing tennis with my friends, and listening to music.
