I taught in TED's "Hazerlik" English program for one year, and then I taught for three years in TED'S "Freshman" program, with a focus on Writing 101, and 102 classes which were required of all students. I also taught 204 classes for public speaking.

While at TED in Ankara, I taught IELTS Preparation classes for Turkish students seeking to pass the exam or else raise their scores.

兴趣: I have worked teaching ESL, and writing, for nearly 30 years. These days, rather than retire, I am seeking ways to help younger people, and to share with them and instruct them in any way I can. I have a CELTA certificate which I earned studying in Germany at the Hamburg School of English. I also have an ESL certificate from a small private school, Winfield College, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. I have taught in Los Angeles, specifically ESL and TOEFL preparation, and in the states of New York, and Massachusetts, working with immigrants in the greater Boston area, and overseas in the city of Balti in Moldova for two years, and in Ankara in Turkey for four years, and in Khabarovsk in the Far East of Russia for one year. I speak and read Russian, and Romanian, having studied both these languages in immersive programs run by native speakers. I also speak a little Turkish, and I still visit Turkey to see my friends there. I am also a published author, with many published stories, essays, story collections, poetry books and novels to my credit. Along with teaching ESL, I have also taught literature classes, and academic writing classes at the college and university level, most recently at TED University in Ankara, Turkey, and at Piedmont Virginia Community College in Charlottesville, Virginia, among other places. I was the Writer in Residence at the former home of American poet Carl Sandburg, and in 2014-15, I was an English Language Fellow through the US State Department and Georgetown University, teaching seminars to teachers, and language classes to students at the Far Eastern State University of the Humanities in Khabarovsk, Russia. I come to you as one with lots of experience, willing to help, to listen and to learn along with you.
