The more senses used to teach or show someone how to do something improves their retention speed.

I have been running a high-end bed & breakfast through AirBnB for 4 years. This has allowed me to speak at length with people on holiday who English is a second language. The demographic would be equally European and Chinese where English is not their native language. I grew up learning French in school (as I was born in Canada), then became very interested in the German language when I went to study abroad in high school and later learned Italian through direct immersion. I continue to study German as it is important to my family life (communication with my in-laws and husband). I mention my language journey as I know that learning languages is a life-long journey that requires patience, intrinsic motivation, and a whole lot of time!
