I was in the military, worked in restaurants, tried to do construction, bartended, did security work, acted in a zombie movie, and many other things. There is a nice quote " Do something every day that scares you." I think that is important to just try what you might not ever have the chance to do again. Take the plunge! Many years ago, I had a wolf - yes, a real wolf! I had him for 14 years. I have taught English in high schools and universities in America. In addition, I have taught English in Russia, Japan, and Mexico. I was a writing instructor while living in Florida.
